This is a place for me to rant and rave and do whatever I need to feel better about the crap that happens in my life.
Just some clarification on some news I posted earlier...

Alrighty guys. The story so far is that there will be a Camaro come 2010 model year, but we will not see a Firebird. Pontiac's nameplate for this Zeta-chassied, rear wheel driven, V8 monsterbeast will (80% likely) be named the GTO. Go figure. You'd think that with the serious lack of sales this last Goat had, and the fact that people quickly dismissed it as a "Grand Prix" or some ugly waste of sheetmetal with a classic badge, that GM wouldn't want to travel down that road again; that the public would have their Trans AM. Well too bad, America. You get another GTO. Personally I had no problem with the last GTO, and would happily own one if I could.

I honestly think Pontiac would profit greatly if it was a Firebird. The Camaro and the Firebird were sister cars, that's the way it should be with the new models. The Camaro and Firebird go so well together, it shouldn't be any other way! If GM was so set on having the GTO moniker, they should maybe try building it off of the upcoming G8 (since the original Goat was a souped-up Le Mans). But I guess it's better than the Challenger, being built off the 300/Magnum/Charger/every-other-midsize-car-that-DCX-builds chassis....

Either way, I'm going to have my GM-Built 400 Hp, 6 speed manual, 4-sec 0-60, loud rumbling, in-your-face 3500 lb panty dropper soon enough.

Red out.

I think your math is a bit off.  A 400hp car will run about a 5.5 sec. 60 foot time.  Hell, even a Porsche Carrera only runs a 3.8.  Also, remember that this is a small block, not a big block, and GM seems to never quite get their small blocks tuned right.

I, personally, think that the new concept Camaro totally f'ed up the design.  If I wanted a car that looked like that, I could buy one right now- it's called a Mustang GT.

My math may be off, I'm just going by the specs available. GM is stating that the car will be about 4 seconds 0-60. Either way, 5.5 is a big improvement over the 7.6 recorded in my Impala so far. About GM's tuning: I think they tune their engines quite well, their biggest problem is building a transmission that will correctly plant the power to the ground!

As far as the Mustang goes - I almost bought one, but with my Ford track record being as nasty as it is (4 out of 4 have been almost entirely worthless), I think I'll wait for a while.

It's not just about the look, it's also the name. I have been in love with the Camaro for 20 years now. I think the look is awsome, it give it the look of an old model with the slickness of a new one. I personally have never been a fan of the new Mustang look, would rather get an older model. Even the previous model was ugly to me, the Camaro one was not that great either though.

I'll take a Camaro over Mustang anytime. It's just a love thang.
